Setting Up Notifications and Reminders
Notifications keep you informed without needing to check every project manually. This guide shows you how to tune them so you hear about what matters and nothing else.
Notification Channels
Loomstack can notify you in three places, each configured independently:
- In-app - Items appear in your Inbox with a badge count
- Email - Sent to your account email, individually or as a digest
- Mobile push - Delivered through the Loomstack iOS and Android apps
Configure all three under Settings > Notifications.
Choosing What Triggers a Notification
In Settings > Notifications, toggle each event type per channel:
- Assigned to me - A task is assigned or reassigned to you (recommended: all channels)
- Mentions - Someone @mentions you in a comment (recommended: all channels)
- Comments - New comments on tasks you’re assigned to or following
- Status changes - A task you follow moves to a new state
- Due dates - A task you’re assigned is due soon or overdue
A good starting point: everything on in-app, only mentions and assignments on email and push.
Switching Email to a Daily Digest
If individual emails are too noisy:
- Go to Settings > Notifications > Email
- Change Delivery from “Immediately” to Daily digest
- Pick a delivery time (default is 8:00 AM in your timezone)
The digest bundles all activity into one summary email with links back to each task.
Setting Task Reminders
Reminders are personal nudges separate from due-date notifications:
- Open any task
- Click the bell icon in the task toolbar
- Choose a preset (1 hour before due, 1 day before due) or Custom date & time
- The reminder arrives on whichever channels you’ve enabled
You can set multiple reminders on the same task — useful for long-running work.
Enabling Quiet Hours
To stop push and email notifications outside working hours:
- Go to Settings > Notifications > Quiet Hours
- Toggle Enable quiet hours
- Set your window (e.g., 6:00 PM to 8:00 AM) and working days
Notifications sent during quiet hours are held and delivered when your day starts. In-app Inbox items still accumulate normally.
Muting a Single Project
Temporarily working elsewhere? Mute a noisy project without changing global settings:
- Open the project
- Click the three-dot menu next to the project name
- Select Mute notifications, then choose a duration (1 day, 1 week, or until unmuted)
Summary
Start with in-app notifications for everything, limit email and push to mentions and assignments, and turn on quiet hours. Add per-task reminders for anything with a hard deadline, and mute projects rather than suffering through noise.
